The 10 Days Jinja Tour, Mountain Elgon and Nyero Rock Paintings Tour takes you to explore Jinja Town,  Mountain Elgon and the legendary Nyero Rock Paintings in Uganda.

Trip Overview

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Jinja for City Tour

Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you are picked up by a company driver guide who transfers you to the stunning Jinja Town through Kampala. The journey takes you 3-4 hours depending on the Traffic Jam at the moment then with en-route lunch, you will reach Jinja Town.

Explore the Town then transfer to check-in your lodge/ hotel for relaxation, Dinner and overnight. Wild Waters Lodge, Haven Lodge Jinja, Source of the Nile Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Mountain Elgon National park for Sasa Nature Trail

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Mbale at the Budadiri Park headquarters for briefing on the Dos and Don’ts about climbing Mountain Elgon. When done with the briefing proceed on a 4 hour hike through Bamboo and Montane vegetation to the Sasa River Camp (2300 m). Dinner and Overnight at Sasa River Camp.

Day 3: Sasa Camp then transfer to Mude Cave Camp

Wake up have breakfast then transfer ascending through the terrain Moorland Vegetation for 3 hours. On your journey, expect changes in weather, altitude and vegetation terrain towards the  Mudde Cave (3,900m). Dinner and Overnight at Mudde Cave Campsite.

Day 4: Mudde Cave Camp then to Wagagai Peak on Mountain Elgon

After breakfast, transfer to hike to the prominent Wagagai Peak elevated at (4,321m) for 4 hours and along the hike, expect to have stunning views at the green vegetation and the Jackson Summit. Take numerous photos to keep for memories. Dinner and Overnight at Mudde Camp Site.

Boat Cruise Along River NileDay 5: Mudde Cave Camp-Hunter’s Cave Camp

Have breakfast in the morning then transfer for 3 hours from the Mudde Cave to the Caldera and Hot Springs. After adventuring and exploring the Caldera, proceed to the Hunter’s Cave Camp for 3 hours. Dinner and Overnight at Hunter’s Cave Camp.

Day 6: Hunter’s Cave Camp-Tatum Cave

Have breakfast this morning then later transfer for 3 hours to explore the stunning Tatum Cave with ancient Cave Paintings. After your exploration, transfer to have Dinner and Overnight at the Tatum Cave Camp.

Day 7: Tatum Cave-Sipi Caves

Have breakfast in the morning then transfer to the Park Headquarters for 4 hours to Kapchorwa, Sipi Falls then to the Caves.

These are located on the opposite side of the Falls which flow down along the 50 meter cliff. After the Hike, transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Sipi River Lodge.

Day 8: Explore the Nyero Rock Paintings

Have breakfast, then transfer to explore the legendary Nyero Rock Paintings situated 2 hours off  busy Mbale Town. The Rock Paintings were created by the early human residents in Uganda. After the experience, transfer to your hotel/ Lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Mbale Resort Hotel, Sipi River lodge, Lacam lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Jinja for Boat Cruise to Source of the Nile

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Jinja Town a drive of some hours and when you reach Town, break off for lunch then transfer to River Nile for a boat cruise to the source of the Nile. After, transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Wild Waters Lodge, Haven Lodge Jinja, Source of the Nile Hotel.

Day 10: Depart to Kampala or Entebbe

Enjoy breakfast at leisure then with your luggage embark on a transfer to Kampala/ Entebbe International Airport to Board Your Flight Back Home.
